Strange Weather

OK...Mike's Weather World is now on Twitter. My Twitter address is "mcmckinney". That's how I can make brief weather commentary on a moment's notice from anywhere. Most of the Tweets will be weather related including some retweets. If you have twitter please consider following me. It you don't have Twitter - get it.

Yesterday was a very unusual day as far as state wide temperatures were concerned. A warm from stretched across the Southwestern part of the state separating a big layer of late-season cold air to the Northeast. Afternoon highs ranged from only 40 in Harrison and Rogers to 88 at El Dorado and Texarkana. That's nearly a 50 degree difference from north to south.

It's looks like today will be another cloudy, cold and damp day. I awoke to 37 degrees this morning. Spring can't be that far away....the trees are starting to come out and the first signs of of the dreaded yellow fallout were visible Friday.

Supermoon 2011

I did a little experimental photography last night trying to get a few good shots of the "Super Moon". I did come up with a couple of interesting photos.

Oh well. The one shining thru the branches might make a good Halloween picture.

There have been a lot of developments around the world in the past couple of weeks...Earthquake....Tsunami....Nuclear Emergency....Cruise Missile Attack. You have to admit that there have been some phenomenal videos from Japan. I'm also amazed at the level of concern by some people on the west coast who are so worried about a radioactive cloud drifting over them. Don't you think we were all exposed to more radiation back during the cold war?

Mike's Weather World may try something new soon......I'm thinking of starting updates on my Twitter account. I'll let you know when that starts and if you don't Twitter now, you will have to start. I've been on Twitter for almost a year now, but I have never sent a Tweet. I just monitor a couple of weather sites. More on that later. Have a good week.

New Volcanic Activity

Cool weather this past weekend...not much excitement. Not the case in Hawaii. Take a look at the HVO Page.

Meanwhile earthquakes continue to rumble about 40 miles north of here.
