Dry and Warm

See the Blue Sky. See the bird flying in the blue sky.....fly bird, fly. First totally great weekend in a long, long time.

Weasley is sick or hurt. He can't move around very well and can not jump up on anything or even walk up steps. He will be visiting Dr Marvin tomorrow. More on his condition later.

Rain

Rainy and breezy all weekend. This has been the wettest May since 1893...and the third rainest ever. my rain guage has received over 3.50 inches so far this weekend. Interesting how you can see the low pressure system spinning counter-clockwise over the state. Yesterday's rain had that tropical look to it like we saw last year in hurricane season. It's too wet to take new pictures so I revived a photo of last year's Gustav.

The Wease did not get to walk at all yesterday.....and he is anxious to get out and about. No rain falling right now....so time for a quick walk around the block.

Memorial Day

Yes...I'm a Republican dog....and yes I am in total favor of "enhanced interrogation methods." I have personal experience with water boarding. Every time I am dragged into the shower for a B-A-T-H (yes I can spell) that shower of water beats on my head until I'm ready to say anything. Every time I seems to get muddy and smelly, I'm shackled and forced into that tile covered "cooler" for another round of questioning.

As for the weather, it appears we will all see scattered rain and thunderstorms this long weekend. It's very interesting that this weather system is somewhat tropical in nature. Take a look at your radar and notice how the rain is moving from East to West (animate the radar). This is more what you would see during late summer when hurricanes move into the Gulf.

It shouldn't be a total wash out.....I'll still be able to cook out on the grill.

Sunshine At Last

After a prolonged period of rain, rain and more rain the sun is finally peaking through the clouds. Storms moved through early this morning dumping another inch or so of rain. Parts of central Arkansas have had more than a foot or rain this month. People have told me that this is what if must be like to live in Seattle. Actually Seattle gets less rain annually that we do. Theirs is just spread out more.

We are expecting cool and dry weather here for the next day or so. Lows will fall to near 50 here and the low to mid 40s in north Arkansas. Better than Las Vegas which is expecting temps over a 100 for the next few days. Death Valley will reach 117 for highs. Usually those hot temperatures are reserved for July and August. Could it be global warming????? I occasionally like to check in with Accuweather's Global Warming Blog.

Live Long and Prosper

Space... the Final Frontier. These are the continuing voyages of the starship Enterprise. Her ongoing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life forms and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before
Whether you are a die hard "Trekkie" or just a fan of good movies I recommend the new Star Trek movie....especially in IMAX. Very enjoyable. What's better to do on another rainy weekend.
A few statistics (with links) on the Star Ship Enterprise:
Launched: 2245
Starship Class: Constitution
Registry: NCC 1701
Maximum Speed: Warp 8
Propulsion Impulse Engines and Warp Drive
Oh yeah........the weather sucks. We need to be beamed up into better weather.

Weasley's Excellent Adventure

"My caretakers usually take me for a walk around the neighborhood every day so I can smell squirrels, chipmunks, and strange dogs. Occasionally I'll chase the ducks or geese. Lawn care workers come on Friday and I usually ignore them. But this Friday they were trimming shrubs and disturbing me with that horribly loud blower. One of the guys actually came up on the deck to blow and guess what? After he left he didn't properly close the gate. Of course, I'm a smart dog and it didn't take me long to pull the gate open. FREEDOM! I can take my own walk without that 30 foot leash. I had the best of times exploring the neighborhood at my own pace. I guess I was gone for about 45 minutes when I started feeling tired and thirsty. I'm just not as young as I used to be. So, like a good doggie, I headed for home. I was spotted my mom and dad as I walked up the driveway. A quick scratch at the front door and I was once again home. Only one problem....due tot he heavy rains of the past several days I was covered in mud. Now that didn't bother ME...but for some reason they were not happy at all. I was again tricked into putting one a leash and being hauled to the bathroom for a B-A-T-H. Oh, and yes I can spell certain words. Laura and Claire were continually asking me where I had gone.....but I'm not talking. That's for me to know and them to always wonder. At least I did finally come home. I'll wait patiently for another attempt to take my own walk."

It's the Weekend....So, that means rain

As you can see, I decided to take advantage of the warm sun this afternoon. Tomorrow may very well be a different story. I can't believe it rains EVERY weekend. I didn't even get a chance to bark at the lawn people today because it was just too wet in the back yard.

I will update you on the rain later in the weekend.

Rainy Weekend

What's the deal with the weather. March was much colder than normal....April checked out warmer that normal, including one record high....and now May is starting off wet and quite cool. No one around here can remember the last totally sunny weekend. A front splitting the state resulted in heavy rain and severe weather overnight in the northern counties. As the day progressed the rain slid south along with the temperature. We've been in the mid 50's most of the day while southern parts of the state climbed to the low 80s.

The rain has been very heavy at times with some areas north of Little Rock getting 5 to 8 inches of rain. It will be interesting to see if any official reporting stations have received copious amounts. Unfortunately Mike's Weather World Rain Gauge has suffered an irreplaceable malfunction....it's done broke. I haven't had time to find a replacement. The old one was over 10 years old .... that's 95 in rain gauge years.

Let me know how your weather has been.
