My Fascination With Volcanoes

As you know I have always been very interested in volcanoes. It was quite breathtaking to actually gaze into the Kilauea Caldera and down into the Halema'uma'u Crater. In the above picture you can see the large caldera (looks like a giant bauxite pit) with the crater at the bottom. That's the most recent active area of Kilauea. Take a look at the latest webcam looking into Halema'uma'u and compare it to my photo from June of 2006. There are several volcano observatories in this country and the latest conditions on all our our active volcanoes can be found at this link.
Oh ... I forgot to mention that it was up around 90 again today after a low this morning at my house of 68.

Love the volcano links and your volcano photos!

I'm in the throes of a thunderstorm at the moment. I had no clue we were due to have this weather!!!

Worst is North and South of me. Thank God! You know me and storms! YIKES!!!

Supposed to dry out and be around 97 tomorrow.

Yep, it's HOT!!

The closest I've been to an active volcano is when I climbed part of the way up Mt. Etna in Sicily. At that time, there were just some puffs of smoke coming out.
