Been Gone

Had to leave town for a few days. I had some hard work to do. I'm back now and will share other pictures in the future. It was hot while I was gone with highs reaching 100 on Saturday. Today it was 99 at my house but a stray afternoon storms cooled thing off at both airports.

Hello Dolly

"Well hello Dolly ..... You're lookin swell Dolly" Yes. Dolly has become a cat one hurricane.

Today was suppose to be another 100 degreer here ... but scattered storms popped up during the afternoon and it stayed in the low 90's in west LR. We even got a little rain (.20) this evening. Maybe another chance tomorrow.

HOT

First day to reach 100 degrees. Hot, Hot, Hot. Tomorrow promises to be just as hot.

Tsunami

Last night I was checking the Earthquake Information site and noticed there had been a 7.0 quake off the coast of Japan. That made me think of Tsunamis and from the earthquake site I found a link to a couple of warning sites. Here is the one of most interest to the US operated by NOAA. I haven't had a lot of time to explore the site, but I have book marked it for future reference. While visiting Hawaii a couple of years ago I found it interesting that all the towns along the coast had warning sirens. At first I wondered why they would need to worry about tornadoes, the it dawned on me they were for tidal waves. A powerful earthquake off the coast of South America in 1960 resulted in a devastating Tsunami at Hilo that killed more than 60 and destroyed over 500 homes. Here's more on that event. By the way...that quake was the most powerful ever estimated as high as 8.5. It was stronger than the Alaska quake of 1964 and the New Madrid quakes of the early 1800's.

As for our weather....nothing new, except there is a slight chance of scattered late afternoon thundershowers. Typical for Summer. Highs in the mid 90's and lows in the low 70's.

Golf Weather

The 137th British Open is underway outside of Liverpool. Players looked a little chilled today. Check out the forecast from the MetOffice weather service in the UK. It's the equivalent of the US National Weather Service. This particular page is rather bland...just like the British.

Our weather has turned into the dog days of summer. I guess it could be worse. Humidity levels are not as bad as I've seen in the past. Highs are in the mid 90's and lows near 70. No rain for the next 7 days. Run those sprinklers!

OK...again I need help. No matter what I do I can't get space between my paragraphs. Does anyone have a suggestion. I'm frustrated and may just terminate this blog out of frustration!

Hot Weather Can Make You Thirsty

Highs in the low 90's and lows in the low 60's. It could be worse. Those dog days of summer are starting to set in. We even have an pollution alert. No sign of rain for the next several days.
